My favorite lil' guy gets a bedroom makeover...

 It begins today!

My favorite lil' guy (my brother Cameron, in case you didn't know who I was talking about) gets a bedroom makeover. He's had a little boy room up until now but with him now finishing 3rd grade and soon to be turning 10 years old (gosh where did the time gooooo) it's time to give him a BIG boy room.

His youth bed will be going bye-bye, along with his spider man toy chest and tiny little painting easel we got him when he was just a tiny lil' thing.

When my mother asked if I would take on this interior design project I jumped right on it. Not only because I love designing but because I actually wanted to work on this project WITH my brother. Going from a lil' boy room to a big boy room is a special thing well to me at least and I just thought this would be the perfect opportunity to not only hang out with my lil' bro but to teach him a couple of things I think kids should know when moving on to their "big" boy or girl room. Responsibility, organization and how to keep their space tidy.

My plan for teaching him those things will consist of this....

 1. Getting him a Betta fish that HE will have to take care of himself. This will give him a lil' friend to have in his room and of course will teach him responsibility and show him how important it is to keep the fish bowl clean.

 2. Getting him a couple of plants to put on his sunny window sill. My brother loves greenery. So getting him a couple of plants that HE will have to water himself will teach him a bit of responsibility.

and plan #3... well plan #3 will consist of everything in his room having a home! With this makeover I am purchasing lots of storage bins and labels so that everything in his room has a home and he will know exactly where to put it back because there will be a label on it to help him remember. This will definitely teach him how to keep things nice and tidy.

I haven't chosen anything for this room yet as far as furniture goes but instead I went ahead and created an album on Pinterest full of things my brother can choose from. This is his room so I wanted to involve him in everything I did in this space. I want his room to give him comfort and ease. A space that he can sleep in, do his homework, study, play and practice his instruments.

This should really be some fun and I will be posting a before and after blog so be sure to look out for it. I might even give a couple of sneak peeks on my fan page on Facebook and Twitter so be sure to look out for those.

 Have a great weekend y'all.
